Hop On My Sweaty Back So I Can Bail Your Sorry Ass Out!
by rusty kuntz on 2007-6-28

This was the week of the one man show. Each of the 3 games this week was pretty much dominated by one player on the winning team. The WWL players are finally putting to rest the complaints of so many of the fans. The complaint was that there wasn't enough offense this year. Josh Mckelvie seemed a bit pissed this week after last week that saw Jake McKelvie bat .666 with 4 HR's over 3 games to put some pressure on Josh's attempt at the 2007 Triple Crown. Pat was back from his rehab stint playing for the Sterling Mosquito Slappers, a AAA Affiliate. And yet another no-show week for every other player in the league that have no stats and could give 2 shits about coming out and getting their asses kicked.

Game 1 featured Pat, who was on a short pitch count, against grizzled veteran, Glenn. Josh Mckelvie came out drooling, knowing his great offensive stats lifetime against Pat. Josh took over the game by crushing 3 home runs and driving in a WWL 2007 high 8 RBI's! This put Pat's team in an early hole that they would never get out of, despite mounting a small comeback to make the final 9-5. Pat continues to struggle to get back to his 2006 World Series form. Could he have been taking Steroids to enhance his performance cuz he was in a contract year? Rumors are escalating...

Game 2 pitted ERA Leader Johnson against the still drooling Josh McKelvie. Johnson's team squandered a bases loaded situation and found it tough to get to Josh and his 120 lb frame. Johnson came out throwing strikes, including 3 he wished he didn't throw. Glenn hit 2 dingers over the monster to drive in 4 and Josh added a solo shot. Johnson, Frantz and Jake mounted a great comeback in the bottom of the 5th. With Frantz on second and the tying run in Johnson at third, Jake singled to right but got thrown out at first. Upon replay it appeared that Josh yelled "Look, it's Adam Duritz!" which made Jake stop in his tracks and scan the crowd for his hero.

Johnson took the tough luck loss as his team lost 5-4.

With Glenn and Josh all sweaty from being on each other’s backs we head to game 3. Frantz against Jake. Frantz who seemed to be coming out of his season long slump by cracking a dinger in the last game followed it up with another against Jake. But that was all the offense his team could muster against the mighty McKelvie. Mckelvie, who was pretty much getting slaughtered every time he toed the rubber, made the manager pitch a tent with his fine performance. Mckelvie somehow hopped on his own back with a smoking 6-8 at the plate with a HR and drove in 5 of the 6 runs. The McKelvie boys are both on fire and it will be interesting to see how the rest of the season pans out and how they both fare after the All-Star break.

Kuntz's Knotes: Just wanted to bring up a couple points for us all to ponder till next Sunday...
